We are excited to announce that we are hiring Iain Miller for a weekend of sea stacking fun in Donegal!
Iain Miller is a rock climber, guidebook author and hill walker living, working and playing on the sea cliffs, sea stacks, mountain ranges and uninhabited islands of County Donegal in the Republic of Ireland. If you’ve downloaded a free rock climbing guidebook of an area from Donegal - he probably wrote it!
This trip is strictly members only.
We will have 2 different days of fun activities.
Saturday 17th June
Iain will be rigging up a Tryolean (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dg5RWX-TKEM) across to Tor na Dhumhcha (guidebook available here:https://uniqueascent.ie/gweedore) . Here you will get the opportunity to top rope some routes (or maybe even lead). Minimum skill required is belay only. Grades range from S-HVS. Price will be £33pp. Limited to 8 places.
Sunday 18th June
We will paddling with Iain out to Ar Na hOileáin where there will be an opportunity to do some trad or even DWS. This day will require at least one of each climbing pair to be able to lead HVS confidently and everyone must be able to lead belay and have a degree of a trad experience. So if you are interested in this day please sign up in pairs! Price will be £45pp. Limited to 6 places.
Please be aware that locations and precise nature of the activities may vary dependent on weather conditions on the day.
Cost will cover time with Iain only. Accomodation and transport will have to be organised yourself. If you wish to stay over we will be recommending a campsite closer to the date. You will be expected to bring your own harness, trad rack (if required), helmet and shoes.
If you are interested in both days of activities - please indicate on the form. Please note that you may only be able to participate in one of the days depending on appetite (but we will be suggesting suitable crags for some fun if you are staying both days in the Donegal area).
